Meet raw ingredients, learn how incense is made, and different approaches to heating and burning. We’ll talk about incense history, it’s relationship to time keeping, medicine, and worship. We’ll burn various woods, resins, gums, herbs, and spices and meet rare incenses from around the world.
This is a hands-on class where students will make incense using herbs, woods, spices, resins, distillates, fruit, honey, and wine. Incense making will focus on incense pastilles, combustible incense cones, quality ingredients, ratios, and formulation.
Students will make and take home two types of their own hand-made incenses and a booklet to recreate what they learned in class.
