Paper incense has been in production since the end of the 19th century. Two French men, a chemist and a pharmacist begun developing paper incense after the chemist, Auguste Ponsot discovered the benefits of benzoin resin. Combining benzoin with incense paper was their invention. Initially paper incense was popular with pharmacists who recommended it as a disinfectant during flu epidemics. Today it’s a novel way of burning incense.
In this class you will learn how to choose paper, how to prepare the medium for scenting, and create a perfume for your incense.
Guests will be able to create incense strips and shapes.
Each guest will make 12 - 50 paper incenses depending on their size and shape.
